Glencore Medical including (MMQ RHSQ)

3 hours

As per the Mining and Quarrying Safety and Health Regulation 2017, all mineral mine and quarry (MMQ) workers are required to undertake pre-employment, periodic, and termination medicals due to the potential workplace exposure to respiratory hazards such as dusts including silica.

General Pre-employment Assessment (GPA)

A pre-employment assessment provides a baseline fitness for work profile to assess employee risk

Protect yourself and your employees by ensuring that they are fit for work. This baseline medical assessment will identify any pre-existing or underlying conditions that may affect a worker’s ability to safely perform their job. It covers the essential fit for work tests and includes a full medical assessment, audiometry test, spirometry test, and a drug and alcohol screen.

Audiometry

Damage to the ear or exposure to loud sounds for a long period can cause hearing loss. An audiometry exam tests how well your hearing functions. It tests both the intensity and the tone of sounds, balance issues, and other issues related to the function of the inner ear.

Spirometry

Spirometry is a standard test that doctors use to determine how well your lungs are functioning. The test works by measuring airflow into and out of your lungs. To take a spirometry test, you sit and breathe into a small machine called a spirometer. The results of a spirometry test can help diagnose obstructive lung disease and other respiratory conditions.

Drug & Alcohol Test

Drug testing should be an integral part of your safety program. Under the Work Health and Safety Act, persons in control of a business or undertaking are required to identify and minimise risk factors at work. This includes the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse in the workplace. Our accurate drug and alcohol test includes a breath alcohol screen and a urine drug screen to Standard AS/NZS 4308 and supports you in maintaining a safe workplace in a sensitive and professional manner.

Functional Capacity Exam (FCE)

Ensure baseline fitness is documented and risk assessed against the physical demands of the job

Essential for all physically demanding occupations, our Functional Capacity Examination includes mobility tests, cardiovascular fitness assessment, balance tests, functional and muscle strength tests. Workcover Legislation places liability on employers for aggravation of pre-existing conditions. The Functional Capacity Examination provides you with assurance that your worker has the required baseline fitness level.

Electrocardiogram (ECG)

An electrocardiogram (ECG) is a simple, non-invasive test that records the electrical activity of the heart. An ECG can help diagnose certain heart conditions, including abnormal heart rhythms and coronary heart disease (heart attack and angina).

ILO Dual Read Chest X-Ray Referral and Report

Chest x-ray for Queensland coal mine workers

The chest x-ray provides early diagnosis and intervention for diseases like Coal Worker Pneumoconiosis (CWP) (also known as Black Lung disease) and Silicosis. These diseases are caused by long-term exposure to high levels of respirable coal dust. CWP can take up to 10 years or more to develop, and even longer to produce noticeable symptoms. While prevention is the best defence, identifying the disease in its early stages can prevent it from progressing to a point where it has an impact on your quality of life. The X-ray is performed and reported to ILO standards by a NIOSH certified B Reader (Physician certified by National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, USA). ‘ILO’ refers to the accepted International Labour Organisation’s standardised approach for classifying pneumoconiosis and monitoring disease progression.

MMQ RHSQ Exam

Respiratory health surveillance medical examination for mineral mine and quarry workers

This is a Resources Safety and Health Queensland (RSHQ) respiratory health surveillance medical examination for mineral mine and quarry workers. The Mining and Quarrying Safety and Health Regulation 2017 (the Regulation) provides for mineral mine and quarry workers to undertake periodic respiratory health surveillance. The doctor will document the effects on your health related to exposure to respiratory hazards at a mine or quarry, and any remedial action required.

Blood Lead & MBA20 Pathology

The blood lead test is used to evaluate the concentration of lead in your blood to determine if you have been exposed to harmful levels. Blood lead is monitored in workers whose environment contains lead. In Australia the main sources of lead exposure are air-borne lead (from industrial sources and from the use of lead in petrol), and occupational and hobby exposure (e.g. plumbers and stained glass artists).

The Multiple Biochemistry Analysis 20 (MBA20) is a blood test consisting of a panel of 20 biochemical tests including urea, electrolytes and creatinine, Liver Function Tests, Glucose, Urate, Lipids - Total Cholesterol and Triglycerides, Calcium, Magnesium, and Phosphate.
